Aqua-Bar LED Aquarium Lighting Installation
and Operating Guide
The SolarOasis Aqua-Bar is the most advanced aquarium grow light available.  Follow
these simple installation and operating instructions to enjoy years of trouble free use.
Installation- Surface Mounting
The Aqua-Bar mounts easily on any flat wooden surface using two
screws.  Place the flat side of the Aqua-Bar against the mounting
surface, and pre-drill two small mounting holes using the light bar as a
template.  Using a medium sized flat-blade screwdriver, screw in the two
brass screws (provided) to securely fasten the Aqua-Bar LED aquarium
lighting to the mounting surface.  Insert the power supply plug into the
socket on either end of the Aqua-Bar, and then plug the power supply
into any standard outlet.

Installation QuickStick Mounting
The Aqua-Bar may also be mounted directly to your aquarium using the QuickStick suction cup
mounts.  First, remove the vinyl covers from the two suction cup studs.  Attach a suction cup to
each stud, applying light pressure as the suction cup is rotated clockwise onto the stud over the
exposed threads.  Screw the suction cups all the way onto the studs, avoiding over-tightening.
Hint: soak suction cups in warm water for a few minutes.  After both QuickStick suction cups are
attached, plug the power supply into your Aqua-Bar LED aquarium lighting.
Aqua-Bar Mounting
Mounting the Aqua-Bar on an Aquarium
The QuickStick suction cups may be used to mount the Aqua-Bar to any aquarium side measuring at least 23 inches in
length.  Thoroughly clean the aquarium surface to remove any dirt, grease, and mineral deposits.  Using a damp cloth,
wipe the aquarium surface and the two QuickStick suction cups before mounting the Aqua-Bar to the aquarium; this will
enhance adhesion of the assembly to the aquarium surface.  While supporting the opposite side of the glass surface with
your free hand, press the Aqua-Bar firmly against the glass until both suction cups are completely flat against the
aquarium surface.  Be sure to check the suction cups weekly to make sure they are still properly attached to the
aquarium.
Using the Aqua-Bar
The advanced, patented technology in the Aqua-Bar generates light that plants and other photosynthesizing organisms use to grow and thrive, leaving out
the light colors they don't need.  For proper viewing of your tank be sure to use standard aquarium view lighting in conjunction with the Aqua-Bar.  You may
find your plants growing much more quickly under the Aqua-Bar, requiring more frequent trimming or water exchanges.  You can easily control the growth of
your aquatic plants by shortening the time the Aqua-Bar is on each day until you find a lighting schedule that matches your needs.
Special Considerations
When mounting an Aqua-Bar above a tank it must be kept far enough from the surface of the water to prevent water splash from reaching the light bar.  Like
any other electrical device, the Aqua-Bar must be kept dry.  Never immerse the Aqua-Bar in your tank.  Using a tight-fitting glass tank cover will extend the
life of your Aqua-Bar.  A glass cover will reduce the chances of mineral deposits reaching the Aqua-Bar and reducing light output or damaging its internal
electronics.  Do not clean the Aqua-Bar with any type of acid including "naturally" acidic solutions such as vinegar.  Acid is very corrosive and will damage
your Aqua-Bar.
Maintaining your Aqua-Bar
Your Aqua-Bar will provide years of operation with very little maintenance.
  • Never use chemicals to clean your Aqua-Bar.  An occasional light cleaning with a soft, damp cloth is all that's needed to maintain optimal performance.
  • The LEDs and product housing should receive a gentle wipe down with a damp cloth once a month.  If mineral deposits from the aquarium water are
allowed to collect on the LEDs or product housing over time it will affect the ability to get light into the water.  Long term mineral deposits may be
impossible to clean off without damage to the light bar.  Also clean your glass aquarium cover once a month.
  • When cleaning or handling your Aqua-Bar be careful not to put pressure on the LEDs.   A small force on the outside of an LED can cause very large
forces on its internal structures and damage them.  A light touch is all that's needed when cleaning your Aqua-Bar.
  • Avoid wetting your SolarOasis Aqua-Bar!  Remember, it is an electrical device.  Keep both you and your fish safe!
  • Use special care around saltwater environments.  Our proprietary open design ensures that water and moisture do not have a long term effect on the
light bar.  All of the components used in SolarOasis LED aquarium lighting is water resistant under normal use.  However, marine fish and live rocks
are easily damaged by even a little stray electricity.
  • If the Aqua-Bar is dropped in the aquarium, disconnect it from power cord and then rinse with clean, warm water immediately.  Carefully shake excess
water out of the Aqua-Bar and reconnect to the power cord.  Don't worry the power at the light bar is safe to people.
  • The AC power cord should preferably be mounted above the tank.  However, when this is not possible, the power cord from the tank should have a
    drip loop.
  • The Aqua-Bar power adapter should never be submerged in water.  If this happens by accident, safely turn off the power to the light bar, disconnect,
and return to SolarOasis for inspection.
  • LEDs used in this product are high intensity devices; for eye safety never stare directly into the lights at close distance or for extended periods of time.
  • U.S. Patent # 6,921,182 and patents pending.
The Aqua-Bar is conformal coated at the end of assembly. This sprayed or dipped coating encapsulates the clusters and attached wiring in polyester resin.
This should make the clusters water tight, preventing damage if dropped into the tank, or from continuous exposure to damp conditions. It also makes it
easier to remove crusty deposits of mineral spray which can collect on the clusters if the bar is mounted too close to the surface of the water in an open tank.
While we did test the light bars underwater and under straight vinegar, it is not suggested or recommended that the product be mounted in direct contact
with the water (fresh or salt)
