    The Herb Wall
I like the natural feel of green buildings incorporating bamboo and slate.  I like to
eat food that is seasonal and organic with a fish entrée that is environmentally
responsible.  As I enjoy my meal, I like to sit amongst Lime Geranium, Vanilla Grass,
Bronze Fennel, Italian Oregano, Spice Islands Rosemary, Berggarten Garden Sage,
Winter Savory, Thyme, and a Curry Plant.  I especially like it when the herbs are
growing organically under SolarOasis LEDs. If you think I live in a dream world...
The wondrous place exists at the Palms Place Hotel and Spa in Vegas, overlooking a
beautiful view of the mountains and the Vegas strip. “Simon Restaurant and Lounge”,
is a collaboration between Kerry Simon, Elizabeth Blau, and George Maloof- three of the
                                                                                                              most illustrious names in
                                                                                                             Vegas.  The menu and
                                                                                                             atmosphere for this celebrity
hot spot is based on the
                                                                                                             concept of sustainability and
                                                                                                             the earth- friendly focal point
is a living wall of herbs.
What better way is there to
show that you care for the
                                                                                                             environment then bringing a
bit of it to work and literally,
caring for it?  There is a
                                                                                                             consumer driven change
                                                                                                             bringing the garden into an
                                                                                                             increasing number of
                                                                                                             unexpected places.  A
                                                                                                             change that is driven
                                                                                                                      largely by the 209 billion
                                                                                                                 dollars that are spent each
                                                                                                                 year by people who want
                                                                                                                 to support businesses that
they feel are “green” or sustainable. They want to support green building, renewable
energy, energy efficiency, organics, pollution prevention, water conservation, and
recycling. What is perceived as the most “green” by this growing, hard-to-define
    market?  Plants are, of course.
I don’t want to suggest that Kerry Simon, Elizabeth Blau, and George Maloof would
have conspired to use their plants as bait for the “green” dollar.  There are a number of
other good reasons that may have influenced their decision to incorporate the herb
wall into the workday. Science has taught us that what we already suspected is true-
people who spend time with plants are happier and healthier.  Plants provide fresh air,
help eliminate air pollutants, increase positive feelings, and reduce stress.  This
connection to nature carries over to the business world with reduced absenteeism,
faster recovery from mental fatigue, and an improved (more expensive looking) image
that makes people want to stay a bit longer.  Plants act as air conditioning in the
summer and humidifiers in the winter.  All of this translates as increased profits and
reduced expenses- enough to give any business a green thumb. -AL

Plants, Light, and LEDs part 12
Intelligent product design is safe, versatile, and scalable.  LED products aren't
constrained by the limitations of standard "glass bulb" lighting designs.  Because of
this, LED grow lighting designs must carefully balance the parameters of the target
operating environment., the various ways in which the product may be used, as well as
any special requirements of the customer, in order to maximize the potential of the
technology.  The intelligent design of SolarOasis grow lighting products is the clear
choice in LED grow lighting for commercial growers:

Low Voltage= Greenhouse Safety- Concerns for greenhouse worker safety lead
greenhouse operations to favor low voltage devices for their growing operations.
SolarOasis low voltage supplemental grow lighting is the safer alternative to standard,
    high voltage grow lighting.

Alternative Power Ready-  With the growing availability of small scale alternative
power generators, such as solar and wind power, commercial growers have more
options than ever before to reduce or eliminate the need for outside power.
SolarOasis grow lighting products are a perfect match for all kinds of alternative power
    generators.

Sleek Bar Design Reduces Crop Shading-  If the supplemental grow lighting in your
greenhouse is blocking more light than it delivers, there's no point in using it.  To be as
efficient as possible, supplemental greenhouse grow lighting should block as little
sunlight as possible.  The sleek bar design of SolarOasis grow lighting products
ensures our grow lighting delivers maximum supplemental lighting while minimizing
    crop shading.
